The Kore jug is type of vessel distinctive to Cyprus. The Greek word Kore means "young woman or maiden" and is widely used as a term to describe the archaic Greek statue type of women. The term Kore jug refers to a type of handled jug with a human figurine on the shoulder. The figurine usually holds a jug with a three-foil opening. The base of the miniature jug often covers an opening in the large jug, which allows the little jug to function as a spout.
